Mizoram government to promote indigenous products

Mizoram Minister for Information and Public Relations Lal Thanzara today said the state government would soon establish Mizoram Handloom Research and Council at Thenzawn town in Serchhip district to promote indigenous products.

Inaugurating a five-day long fair here, organised by leading handloom manufacturer Hnam Chhantu Pawl, Thanzara said the government would make efforts to get Geographical Identification (GI) tags for traditional products.

Besides handloom and handicraft products, the fair have also put on display toiletries and bamboo products,

crockery, baskets and caps made by local artisans.
