Mizoram's annual plan fixed at Rs 2500 crore

Mizoram's annual plan for 2013-14 was today fixed at Rs 2,500 crore in a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and state Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla at Yojana Bhavan in New Delhi.

The increase in the state annual plan size was Rs 200 crore as against last fiscal's Rs 2,300 crore.

Ahluwalia expressed appreciation in the performance of the state in different sectors including health, education and agriculture, official sources said here.

"The state government was specially appreciated for achievements under its flagship programme - the New Land Use Policy (NLUP) and was assured more support to carry forward the programme," the officials said, adding that, focused attention was needed to reduce transmission losses and further accelerating process of road construction.
 

Ahluwalia also promised Planning Commission support in evolving a workable rain water harvesting programme for the State, the officials said.

He said that more has to be done in irrigation, horticulture, animal husbandry, veterinary, diary, fisheries and industrial sectors.
