MLA raises issue of minor detained under PSA in JK Assembly

Independent MLA Engineer Rasheed today moved documents in J&K Assembly supporting his claim that the boy arrested and put in jail under Public Safety Act (PSA) is a minor.

Engineer Rasheed presented date of birth certificate of the school in the House that boy slapped with PSA was a minor.

On this, Speaker gave direction asking government to look into the matter.

Later Speaking to reporters, he threated to move privilege motion against the officers who allegedly said in the House that the date of birth of a boy detained under Public Safety Act during Kashmir unrest was a major.
 

"We are giving the government time to release them. We will launch agitation if he is not relased," he said.

Rasheed raised the issue of detention of the minor of Srinagar under PSA.

The MLA circulated the copies of Date of Birth Certificate issued by the Govt Middle School, Pamposh Colony, Palpora (Zone Iddgah), Srinagar, certifying that the minor was the student of the said school and his date of birth as per the school record vide admission no:381, os 10-03-2002.
