MLA Rajwade, nephew injured in mishap

An MLA and his nephew were injured when their SUV fell into a nullah while trying to avert hitting a motorcycle in Chhattisgarh's Korba district, police said.

Legislator from Baikunthpur constituency, Bhaiyalal Rajwade (60) and his nephew Ramesh (28) sustained injuries in the accident on Korba-Bilaspur main road under Katghora police station limits this evening, Station House Officer Gopal Vaishya said.

Rajwade's personal security officer Krishna Rajwade, personal assistant Shashi Bhusan and driver of the SUV Santosh also received minor bruises in the mishap.

As per preliminary investigation, the driver lost control over the vehicle while trying to avoid a motorcycle which suddenly came on the highway on a bridge near Kasaniya nursery, and it skidded off the road and fell into nullah, the SHO said.
 

Soon after receiving the information, a police team was rushed to the spot along with medical aid and the injured were rushed to a local hospital, he said.

The leader and his relative were undergoing treatment at the NTPC hospital here, Vaishya said, adding that if needed they will be shifted to Raipur for further treatment.

A case has been registered in this regard and further probe was on, he added.
