allegedly looted the house of AIUDF MLA Gopi Nath Das, who is presently in jail in connection with a rape case, in Kamrup Rural district, police said today.

The incident occurred last night when the thieves entered the local MLA's house in Bako area after breaking the doors, they said.

Police suspected that some valuable items along with some files were looted from the house, but said it was difficult to correctly ascertain about the stolen items as there was nobody present in the house.

The 14-year-old domestic help of Das had in August this year accused him of raping her. The MLA denied the charge but had been at large for a month before being arrested in early October.
