A Dalit contractor here has alleged that the father of Sardhana BJP MLA Sangeet Som thrashed him along with four others over a dispute.
According to police, one Dharmendra Singh, a resident of Raghna village in the district, has complained that the accused forcibly took him away from his home on Wednesday night and subjected to him to beating for about four hours at the farmhouse of Omveer Singh, Som's father.
Dharmendra has alleged that Omveer and four of his associates not only beat him but also tried to pull out the nail on one of his fingers using a pair of pliers. The complainant said that he was attacked over a dispute involving labour.

Circle Officer Shwetabh Pandey said that, on the basis of the complaint by Dharmendra, a case has been registered against Omveer and four others under the relevant sections of IPC and the SC/ST Act.
Meanwhile, MLA Som, is an accused in the Muzaffarnagar riots case, said that the matter was politically motivated and called for an independent inquiry into it.
