MLAs, MPs and former lawmakers of Nagaland today appealed for a solution to the vexed Naga political problem before the state Assembly elections due early next year.
The MLAs, MPs along with ex-MLAs and former MPs made the appeal during a closed door consultative meeting called by the Nagaland Assembly Speaker Imtiwapang Aier, at the Regional Center of Excellence in Music and Performing Arts, Jotsoma.
A copy of the resolution passed in the meeting said the lawmakers placed on record their deep sense of appreciation for all the positive steps taken by the Government of India (GoI) and the stake holders so far in seeking to arrive at an honourable and acceptable solution to the Naga political issue.

The MLAs and MPs also appealed to the Election Commission of India to conduct the elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly only after an honourable and acceptable solution is reached with regard to the vexed Naga political issue, the resolution said.
They also urged the members of the present Assembly to pass resolution on similar lines during the ensuing winter session, scheduled for December 14 and 15, it said.
Today's resolution was appended by Nagaland Assembly Speaker, Chief Minister TR Zeliang and president of Ex-Parliamentarians Association of Nagaland, T Khongo.
