The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today hailed Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa's resignation and termed it as a 'great victory' of democracy.
"I salute the MLAs of Congress and JD(S) for saving democracy. They did not get lured by sops offered by BJP nor did they feel intimidated," TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy said in a statement here.
Although they got elected as MLAs only four days ago, the Congress and JD(S) legislators have proved that the people have made the right choice, he said.
The people have defeated BJP in the electoral battle. By reducing Yeddyurappa to 'ek din ka sultan' (King for a day), they have defeated the wrong aspirations and ambitions of prime minister Narendra Modi Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah to grab power at all costs, he alleged.
Nothing can stop Rahul Gandhi from becoming the prime minister now as the the whole country has witnessed that the Congress scion has the strength and conviction to defeat the designs of Amit Shah and Modi, he added.
The developments in Karnataka would help strengthen the Congress party in Telangana and this is a prelude to its victory in the 2019 elections, he said.
