The four MLAs who were served notices by the Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Shashank Sekhar Bhokta under the disqualification act today requested Bhokta to give them a fortnight's time to give reply.

The notices were served after Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) on Saturday approached the Speaker demanding disqualification of the four legislators as they had won on JVM tickets and announced joining the BJP recently.

"We have given a letter to the Speaker seeking 15 days time to produce all relevant documents following the notice served on us," Nirbhay Sahabadi, who recently announced joining the BJP along with three other MLAs, told reporters here.

"Let us see how much time the Speaker gives to us to reply to submit all our documents," he added.

The Speaker had on August 2 served the notices to Nirbhay Kumar Sahabadi (Giridih constituency), Jai Prakash Singh Bhokta (Semeria), Chandrika Mahata (Jamua) and Samresh Singh (Bokaro), seeking their replies based on JVM Legislative party leader Pradip Yadav and party president Babulal Marandi demanding disqualification of the MLAs under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution after they announced to join the BJP in Delhi recently.

The Speaker had given the four MLAs, who had won the 2009 assembly elections as JVM candidates, time till 2 pm today.
