Government-run MMTC Ltd has suspended Director (Marketing) Anand Trivedi, whose name had allegedly cropped up in the NSEL scam.

"In terms of communication received from the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Anand Trivedi, Director (Marketing) of MMTC Ltd has been placed under suspension," the company said in a regulatory filing.

Although the firm did not disclose the reason to the BSE for suspension, sources said that it could be linked to the NSEL scam.

Last month, MMTC had also suspended Director (Finance) M G Gupta, whose name had also allegedly cropped up in the NSEL scam.

The nearly Rs 5,600-crore payment and settlement crisis at the National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL) came to light in late 2013 and since then it is being probed by multiple agencies.
