Mn arrested for trying to poach wild animals

Forest department sleuths today arrested a man who was trying to poach wild animals in the reserve forest at Chadheyapalli under Ganjam district's Gallery forest range.

The accused was identified as Pratap Mallick, 35 of Sikagunda in Kandhamal district's Chakapada police station limit. He however is staying near Tarsingi area in Ganjam district for last eight years.

A country-made loaded gun, a knife, axe and spotlight have been seized from him, said divisional forest officer Ghumusar North Ramaswamy P.

Forest officials nabbed him inside the jungle when they were conducting night patrolling in the forests, said forest range officer, Gallery Bijay Kumar Mishra.
 

During the interrogation, forest officials claimed that he has confessed to have entered into the reserve forest for the purpose of poaching wild animals.
