The workers of Opposition Mizo National Front (MNF) today tried to prevent Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla from attending the first day of assembly winter session today, police said.

Aizawl district SP Neihchungnunga told PTI that around 50 MNF workers brought charges of corruption against the chief minister and gathered near his residence at McDonald Hill to prevent him from attending the assembly session.

The police, however, managed to disperse the protesters without using force, the SP said.

"Lal Thanhawla has failed to mention about his prime property in the affidavit submitted to the election officials while filing nominations from Serchhip seat in 2013 assembly polls. We held a protest today seeking explanation from the CM," the joint secretary of the party, Lallenmawia Jongte, said.
