Mob lynch teenager in Bihar's Gaya district

A 17-year old boy was beaten to death by an angry mob on alleged theft charge in Bihar's Gaya district on late Sunday night, a senior police officer said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Arjun Manjhi (17), son of Khatak Manjhi, Senior Superintendent of Police- Rajiv Mishra- said.

The incident occurred in Kalyanpur locality under Delha police station of Gaya town, the SSP said.

The deceased was resident of Bhuitoli locality of the town.

The fellow citizens of the locality staged protest this morning demanding immediate arrest of the culprits besides payment of adequate compensation to the boy's family, sources said.

 

His mother told the police that her son's three friends had called him on Sunday evening, the SSP said.

The friends have been absconding since the incident, he said adding the house of one Jitendra Kumar, where the incident took place, has been locked and he along with his entire family have been escaping.

The body has been sent to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, Gaya for autopsy, the SSP said.
