With an aim to reach out to more number of people in remote areas, a legal team will visit certain places in the district from next week and hold Lok Adalats and legal awareness camps.

"After receiving a good response last year, the programme will be held in the district from January 6 for a period of at least 15 days," Thane District Legal Services Authority secretary S M Chandgade said.

The team will comprise a retired district judge, a social activist, who will be accompanied by the court staff.

The inaugural programme will be held on January 6, he said adding that eleven mobile Lok Adalats and legal literacy camps will be held across the district during the period.

The mobile van will visit at least 15 locations in the district.

"People generally go to courts to get justice but today with mobile courts, the courts will come to the people," Chandgade said.

The concept of mobile court is based on the pressing need to take administration of civil and criminal justice closer to people so that those living in remote areas are able to benefit without incurring expenses of travelling to courts at distant places.
