In an effort to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Mother Mortality Rate (MMR) in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched mobile health services - Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy for Odisha.

The programme was launched in Rourkela on February 23. Patnaik presented Mobile Kunjis, an audio-visual job aid, to 30 ASHAs (Accredited Social Health Activists).

Mobile Kunji and Mobile Academy, audio-based training courses, will be implemented across 30 districts of Odisha by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in collaboration with BBC Media Action, sources said.

Supported by the UK Aid, these services will empower health workers in Odisha to use basic mobile phones to deliver lifesaving information to families, they added.
