'Mobile Konkani Bazaar' reaches city

: A Mobile Konkani Bazaar carrying books and CD's in the Konkani language to the doorsteps of every household has arrived in the city.

The programme, flagged off here last evening which was organized by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy,was inaugurated on May 24 in Bangalore by Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree.

The initiative is aimed at creating awareness about the Konkani language and its development, a statement said.

President of Konkani Sahitya Academy, Roy Castelino said that when the Mobile Bazaar reaches the doorsteps of people, they would purchase the books but when they are freely distributed, people may not realize their worth.
 

Two books in Konkani, 'Asthamana' by K Sharadha Bhat and 'Pushpamal' by Dr Varija Neerabail were released on the occasion. Devdas Pai, registrar of Konkani academy, Stanly Alvaris and others were present.
