Mock drill at IGI airport's domestic terminal

Security agencies and paramilitary forces today conducted a mock drill at the domestic terminal of Indira Gandhi International Airport here to check their preparedness in the wake of terror alert.

The drill jointly by CISF, Delhi Police, NSG, airport staff and BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation Security) was conducted today around 10.30 AM at the departure check-in counter at the domestic terminal.

The drill involved the "detection of a bomb" in unclaimed baggage and the subsequent arrival of the CISF and other agencies.

"Mock drills are part of the exercise to check whether the security agencies are equipped to tackle any untoward incident," said a senior police officer.
 

The people who were standing near the proximity of the area where the "bomb was detected" were evacuated.

The drill ended around 11.30 AM and was attended by local police, CISF, PCR, fire department, Delhi Police's special cell and special branch and SWAT commandos, said a senior officer.
