Mock firefighting drill held at ONGC's Tatipaka refinery

A mock firefighting drill was held at ONGC's Tatipaka Refinery Complex in the East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh today.

A fire was simulated in a naphtha storage tank, after which a message regarding the fire was sent to district fire services group immediately.

The fire rescue team of Razole responded and reached the refinery complex within 15 minutes, a ONGC press release said.

A siren was blown to alert nearby inhabitants of Nagaram village. A foam umbrella and a water umbrella was created to demonstrate how the mock fire could be put out.

The entire exercise was completed within 25 minutes, the release said.
 

Later, P Krishna Rao, ONGC Asset Manager P Krishna Rao reached the site and addressed reporters on ONGC's preparedness to take on emergency challaenges.

He sought the co-operation of fire, district revenue authorities and villagers to handle any kind of emergency, the release said.
