Moderate quake jolts northwest China

The quake hit Zadoi County in Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture at 5:27 p.M. (Beijing time). It was followed by two weak aftershocks of 3.4 and 3.2 magnitude, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.

It added that the epicentre of the quake was in Ador village, about 80 km from county seat of Zadoi.

The epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 20 km.

People living in the county said the quakes were very noticeable, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

At present, no reports of casualties and property losses have been received, Casum Nyima, deputy head of the public security bureau of the county said.

 

According to the bureau, the county has dispatched officials and experts to the epicentre to gather more information.
