Moderate rains at some places in Himachal Pradesh

Moderate rains occurred at some places in Himachal Pradesh today even as monsoon started receding and most places in the region witnessed a dry weather.

The weather remained dry in most parts of the state despite the cloudy sky and a cool breeze swept the region, the MeT said.

Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, Sarkaghat in Mandi and Arki in Solan district received 96 mm, 39 mm and 30 mm rainfall respectively.

Dalhousie witnessed 29 mm rain, followed by Pandoh 21 mm; Mandi 19 mm; Dharamshala 16 mm; Sundarnagar 11 mm and Mehre 9 mm.

There was no significant change in minimum temperatures and Keylong and Kalpa in tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti and Kinnaur recorded a low of 10.5 degrees Celsius and 11.0 degrees Celsius respectively, followed by Manali 12.4 degrees Celsius; Shimla 15.7 degrees Celsius; Dharamshala 16.6 degrees Celsius; Palampur 17.0 degrees Celsius and Solan 18.0 degrees Celsius, it said.
 

The day temperatures fluctuated marginally and Una was hottest with maximum temperatures settling at 34.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Sundernagar 31.8 degrees Celsius; Bhuntar 31.5 degrees Celsius; Solan 29.5 degrees Celsius; Dharamshala 28.4 degrees Celsius; Manali 25.2 degrees Celsius and Shimla 23.4 degrees Celsius.

The local MeT department has predicted rains or thundershowers at isolated places in mid hills over next six days and dry weather in lower and higher hills from September 14 onwards.
