Moderate rains in Himachal, monsoon normal

Dharamshala, which received 55 mm rainfall, was the wettest place in Himachal Pradesh, while moderate downpour was witnessed in several parts of the state.

The weather office here said monsoon over the state has been normal.

Jogindernagar received 53 mm of rains, followed by Palampur and Sarahan (36 mm each), Bijahi (35 mm), Gohar (24 mm), Karsog (22 mm), Baijnath (18 mm), Rajgarh and Banjar (17 mm each), Kotkhai (16 mm), Mashobra, Jubbar Hatti and Manali (15 mm each), Jhanjehli and Arki (11 mm each).

There was no significant change in the minimum temperatures in the state, as Shimla recorded a low of 16.6 degrees Celsius, it said.
 

Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district with a low of 12 degrees Celsius was the coldest at night followed by Saluni (12.5),Kalpa (14.2), Manali (14.4) and Dharamshala (18.2).

The maximum temperatures increased by few notches and Una with a high of 36 degrees Celsius was hottest during the day, the office said.

Bhuntar recorded a maximum temperature of 32.2 degrees Celsius followed by Sundernagar (32.1), Kangra (31.1), Dharamshala (28.8), Solan (28.5), Nahan (27.5) and Kalpa (22.2).

The weather officer warned of heavy rains in mid hills on July 28 and heavy rains in lower, middle and high hills on the next day. It also predicted a wet spell in the region for next six days, up to July 31.
