Noting the importance of the element of design in making jewellery, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said that only modern approach and judicious use of technology would help the age-old craft to thrive in the fast-changing scenario.
Addressing jewellers in the inaugural ceremony of Jaipur Jewellery Show here, Raje also stressed on certification of diamonds and coloured gems for gaining the confidence and trust of customers.
She said during the Rajasthan Resurgent summit last month, the potential of the state was showcased and it was the best opportunity to display the potential in the gem and jewellery sector.

The Chairman of the Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council Praveen Shankar Pandya suggested that Jaipur should have a special economic zone for coloured gem stones.
He said the Indian diamond industry is threatened by the Chinese synthetic diamonds and there is need to fight it.
"This could be done byadopting scientific methods of certification which would build trust in the minds of the consumers," he said.
In the annual show of jewellery, 730 exhibitors are participating.
