The postal department today dedicated a modern post office complex at Jammu Railway station with provisions of round the clock postal service, to the public.
The project was dedicated to the people by Chief Post Master General, Jammu and Kashmir, John Samuel under 'Project Arrow'.
It is the third post office which was modernised this year and dedicated to people after Qazigund and Gulmarg.
"We have dedicated first of its kind post office of Jammu region with provisions of 24X7 postal services," Samuel told reporters here.
The modernised complex housing post office, speed post centre, mail business centre, mail processing centre has been designed on modern lines and equipped with best infrastructure to provide postal facilities to people, including the tourists, under one roof, he added.
"Thousands of tourists from across the world arrive at Jammu Tawi railway station daily for their onwards journey to Kashmir Valley, Vaishno Devi, Amarnath Yatra", Samuel said.
He also briefed about the plan of the Department to improve the postal infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that 20 post offices will be modernised soon.
