Prime Minister Narendra Modi applauded the doctor community on 'Doctor's Day' today for their efforts and wished them the very best in their efforts to create a healthy India.

"On Doctor's Day, I salute the efforts of the doctor community and wish them the very best in their efforts to create a healthy India," he tweeted.

An official statement said Modi has "saluted" the efforts of the doctor community.

The day is observed on the birth and death anniversary, both of which falls on July 1, of Bharat Ratna Bidhan Chandra Roy, a noted physician and political leader who received the highest civilian award in his lifetime in 1961.
