After taking a dig at excavation of reported gold deposits in Uttar Pradesh following the dream of a seer, BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today clarified that his objective was not to hurt the feelings of the spiritual guru.

Modi has conveyed a clarification to his remarks, made at a public rally in Chennai, in a letter to the seer Sobhan Sarkar, whose followers had reacted sharply to the Gujarat chief minister's comments.

BJP MLA from Kanpur Satish Mahana went to Baxar ashram of Sobhan Sarkar and handed over Modi's letter.

Mahana said Modi's intention was not to hurt the feelings of the seer, but to bring back black money stashed in the foreign banks back to India.

He said that Modi had said that lakhs of the people have faith in Shobhan Sarkar and we respect the seers.

"Shobhan Sarkar is not angry with us and we have no issue. Seers pardon and he has done the same with us," the BJP MLA said.

The Gujarat chief minsiter had on October 18 took a dig at the Centre for its "gold hunt", saying it should focus on bringing back black money stashed away in Swiss banks.

The seer has shot a letter to Modi in this regard.
