Terming the Narendra Modi government as a "total failure", senior Uttar Pradesh minister Shivpal Singh Yadav today alleged that it has neglected the state the most despite the prime minister and several other ministers being elected to the Lok Sabha from here.

"This government is a total failure...Only Modi saheb is touring the world with capitalists...It has done no work for the farmers, poor and common people in the one year (in power)...None of the promises made by them have been fulfilled till now," Yadav said.

He was responding to a question on the NDA government's performance in the backdrop of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi giving it a zero.

"What does he do in foreign countries, you find it out... Uttar Pradesh has been the most neglected despite it being the most important and the biggest state in the country...The prime minister and other ministers come from here," he said.

On the achievements of the Modi government in the past one year, he said "Till now nothing has been done for the people to my knowledge."

The minister also charged the Centre with not extending adequate help for the farmers affected by unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

"Only Rs 253 crore have been given by the government of India to the state which is a part of routine funds," he said, adding, several union ministers and officials have also visited affected areas in the state.

"Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had however claimed that the state has been given Rs 508 crore," Yadav added.
