Modi govt changed country's pol culture, discourse: Nadda

The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has changed the political culture and discourse in the country and the people who talked only about corruption and scams are today discussing development, growth and governance, Health Minister J P Nadda today said.

Listing the achievements of Modi government during past one year, Nadda said, "We heard only about scams, corruption and commission till June 2014, corridors of power were choked by brokers and economic growth but today the government is working with a mission."

The economy was sluggish and had come to a standstill when the NDA government took over but today the GDP growth rate has gone up to 7.5 per cent, inflation has come down to 5 per cent and the people are talking about the scale, skill and speed of economic growth, he said.
 

Nadda said that even those who are opposed to us ideologically admit that the economy is on a fast track. The leadership of Prime minister Narendra Modi has been internationally accepted and disconnect between the centre and the states has been reduced as they are now working as a team, he said.

Addressing the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana here, he said that in Himachal 650 KM national Highways have been sanctioned and notified, one AIIMS is being opened and funds have been released for medical colleges at Chamba and Hamirpur.

The revenue deficit grants by 14 Finance commission have been increased from Rs 7,989 crore to Rs 42,000 crore and states have been given freedom to chalk out their own programmes, he added.

He said that a committee of 10 chief ministers, headed by Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan, has been constituted to finalise the modalities for release of funds to Himachal and its report is awaited, Nadda said.
