Modi govt muzzling voice of Opposition: Youth Congress

Accusing NDA government at the Centre of "muzzling" voice of the opposition, the state unit of Youth Congress held a protest here today.

The protest was led by Uma Shankar Pandey, Secretary Indian Youth Congress and Pranav Shagotra, president of Jammu and Kashmir's Youth Congress unit.

A large number of Youth Congress activists assembled at Shaheedi Chowk in Jammu and burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They also raised anti-Modi and anti NDA government slogans.

He said that the Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi were raising the issues of farmers and poor sections of the pluralistic society of the nation.
 

Pandey said that Congress party was also raising the cases of corruption cases in the BJP ruled states, but the Modi-led government was muzzling the voices of the Congress leadership.

"To hide the misdeeds of the BJP Chief Ministers and ministers, the NDA government was muzzling the voice of the Congress leadership", he said.

Pranav Shagotra said that the leaders of BJP were trying to divert the attention of the masses from issues like sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.

"The failure of promises made by them during the elections campaigns, the increase in corruption, they are diverting the attention of the common masses from these issues", Shagotra said.
