Prime Minister of Mauritius, Anerood Jugnauth, today hailed his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes saying the move would benefit the country's economy in the long run.
"What I personally think as a Prime Minister is that Modi has done a right thing for the country," Jugnauth told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Saligao village in North Goa today.
"People will have some problem and some difficulties, but in the long run they will realise that Modi has saved the economy of this country," he said.

"I always say it is a blood relation. India has been helping us all through. India is still helping us today and we are thankful," he added.
