Congress today dismissed suggestions of Narendra Modi being able to drive a bargain with Jayalalithaa remarking that the BJP's prime ministerial candidate is yet to understand national politics unlike the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister who is a "big player".

"While Modi's chapter has just begun and he is yet to understand what national politics is, Jayalalithaa is a very big player for long," party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary told reporters.

Her remarks came ahead of a meeting between the two leaders at a time when the Gujarat chief minister has upped his efforts for support from regional parties to get allies for the BJP.

Modi had appreciated Jayalalithaa at a public meeting in Hyderabad sometime back.

"Let us see what happens," Chowdhary had remarked when asked whether she sees the BJP and AIADMK coming together ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
