Opposition allies CPI-M and Congress today criticised both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for keeping mum on Narada sting operation.

WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury and CPI-M Politburo member Md Salim told an election meeting here that Modi and Banerjee were speaking in the same tone and were quiet on Narada.

"The Saradha scam and Narada sting will have impact in the Bengal assembly polls. Why are Modi and Banerjee quiet on Narada. Why is there no investigation into it ?" they said.

Chowdhury said the tea industry in Dooars is in bad shape. "The chief minister visits north Bengal often but has never gone to a closed tea garden."

Polling in north Bengal districts is scheduled on April 17.
