Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the city for BJP's national executive meeting, today visited Chandrashekhar Azad Park and paid floral tribute to the revolutionary who died here fighting the British over eight decades ago.

After spending the night at the Circuit House, the Prime Minister left for the KP Inter College Sports Ground to take part in the national executive.

Scores of people gathered along the roadside to greet the Prime Minister who, in turn, waved at them.

On his way to the meeting venue, the Prime Minister's cavalcade stopped at the park and he paid floral tribute to the revolutionary.

Azad had killed himself on February 27, 1931, at the age of 25, in keeping with his pledge not to get caught alive by the Britishers.
