Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi returned to a rousig welcome here after being elevated as head of BJP's election campaign committee for 2014 polls at the Goa meet.

Scores of party workers and Modi supporters made a beeline to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) where the chief minister landed this evening.

Modi was anointed as the election panel head of BJP by the party president Rajnath Singh at the national executive conclave that concluded in Panaji today.

With a musical band playing in the backdrop, Modi addressed his supporters and party workers outside the airport.

"Because of people's love, support and faith in me, Gujarat has earned the name not only in the whole country, but the world".

"Gujarat has carved out its own unique identity. Because of continuous win in successive elections, BJP's national leadership has thought that the country should also get benefit of this," he said.

Modi said that the pace of development in Gujarat will never be stopped.
