Narendra Modi today rued the restrictions the post of Prime Minister brings with it and said he could recognise many familiar faces at various gatherings but can't walk up to them as security personnel guide him "whether to go right or left".

Addressing a rally at Sector 25 ground here, the Prime Minister evinced keenness to meet old friends, but pointed out that "with post some problems creeps in".

"Now it's the security personnel who guide me whether to go right or left. I could recognise old faces whom I know in the gathering... I want to meet them... But now I can see them from distance only," he said.

Modi, who has spent close to six years as a party worker in Panchkula, said,"there was a time when I used to listen speeches of big leaders sitting in the middle of the public."

However, he said, "with post (becoming the PM) some problems come in movement."

"After becoming Prime Minister, it's my first meeting in Chandigarh...I am keen on meeting people," he said.
