Tableaux with a giant machine lion and a replica of bullet train rolled down the majestic Rajpath during the Republic Day celebrations on Monday, putting on display pet projects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as the Make in India scheme and Jan Dhan Yojana.

Though Swachh Bharat campaign, which is another area on which the prime minister has given much focus on, did not get a display through a tableau, schoolchildren later presented a dance on the importance of cleanliness.

A tableau with a huge machine lion with wheels, made by the department of industrial production and promotion, rolled down the Rajpath depicting Modi’s ambitious Make in India initiative, aimed at reviving the job-creating manufacturing sector, facilitating investments and fostering innovation.

The department of financial services focussed on the Jan Dhan Yojna with a tableau displaying various facilities available for the people. Modi had recently said 115 million bank accounts have been opened in just over four months after the scheme’s launch covering 99.74 per cent households.

Rajpath also witnessed a colourful tableau on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, the most recently launched scheme of the government, which showcased celebrations over the birth of a girl child.

A replica of bullet train mounted on the Railway tableau drew applause from the crowd as the national transporter showcased the ambitious high-speed train project. Ancient Indian medicines were prominently displayed in the tableau presented by department of ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy (AYUSH), which participated for the first time in the parade.
