Welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assertion that the fight against terror was not against any religion but to counter a mind set that led the young to commit atrocities on innocents, the BJP's Kashmir unit said the statement was an "eye-opener" for those who left no stone unturned to pit one community against the other.

In a statement, BJP spokesperson for Kashmir, Khalid Jehangir, said the prime minister was bringing like-minded nations on one platform and was getting support world-over.

The prime minister's statement is an eye opener for the people who leave no stone unturned to communalize the situation and try to pit one community against another, the BJP spokesperson said.

Referring to the statement of King Abdullah-II that Islam was not about radicalisation and humanity united all religions, Jehangir said the visiting dignitary's statement was a slap on the face of such people who are linking radicalisation with Islam and misleading the masses.

Our government is committed to restoring peace and dignity in Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding that all efforts were being made to get the "misguided youth" back into the national mainstream.

Asserting that no religion preached hatred or violence, Jehangir said all faiths taught tolerance and Jammu and Kashmir was always an abode of tolerance.

The entire world is supporting Modi's stand against terrorism, he said.

"His clear stand on terrorism has brought all the like-minded nations on one platform and everyone is supporting him. The prime minister's clear cut policy against terrorism has isolated Pakistan and the neighbouring country is grappling for space. Even the saner voices in Pakistan are supporting the policies of the Prime Minister Modi," he added.

In Jammu and Kashmir, some people are working overtime to push youth towards picking up arms in the name of religion, Jehangir said.

"They are the real culprits and should be dealt with sternly," he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that action against terrorism and radicalisation was not against any religion, but aimed at countering a mind set that leads the young to inflict atrocities on innocents.

Complete welfare and inclusive development is possible only when Muslim youths have a Quran in one hand and computer in the other, the prime minister added in his speech at a conference on 'Islamic Heritage: Promoting Understanding & Moderation', where Jordan's Abdullah II bin Al Hussein delivered a special address.

The action against terrorism and radicalisation is not against religion. It is against the mind set that misleads our youth to inflict atrocities against innocents," Modi said.
