Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan today slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Uri terror attack saying he only keeps talking about taking action against Pakistan instead of actually doing so.
"The PM only keeps talking about taking action against Pakistan. Photos of him conducting high level meetings are being splashed all over the media. Despite the meetings, no action is being taken," Chavan told reporters here.
"We wish to remind him (Modi) that before coming to power, he spoke the language of entering Pakistan and killing terrorists hiding there. He used to mock us for trying to find an amicable situation over the issue. Today, he is in power and therefore, we expect him to do as he had suggested at that time," Chavan said.

The Lok Sabha MP from Nanded also demanded the Maharashtra government to roll back 'drought surcharge', levied on petrol and diesel, after the entire state received good rains.
"The drought surcharge was primarily levied to help those affected by crop losses due to the drought in the state. This year, barring a few pockets, almost the entire state has received good monsoon. Therefore, it makes no sense to continue with the surcharge now, especially when there is VAT on petroleum products," he said.
Chavan said there is distrust against the state government, which is evident through the morchas being taken out by the Maratha community.
"At least wake up now and understand the sentiments of the people and consider them seriously. No steps to ease their apprehensions have been taken, which is only making the situation grim. These morchas are not taken out by political parties, but by common people. The government has to take them seriously," the Congress leader said.
