MoEF not amused by Raj's nod to name tigresses after minister

"We will not follow such a practice. In official records they will be called in respective series only, whatever may be their antecedent," a senior Environment Ministry official said here.

The official was reacting to a media report that the tigresses, relocated from Ranthambhore national park to Sariska reserve, last week were named after Rajasthan Forest Minister Bina Kak.

According to the official, the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has set a practice to name big cats in accordance with a specific coding procedure like T2, T5, etc.

The report said tigers in Ranthambhore are in the T series
