The Delhi Congress today smelled rat in the AAP government's Mohalla Clinic Project, which has been extended for a year, alleging the clinics were housed in properties "owned by AAP legislators and workers".
Addressing a press conference, Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken alleged this was done to extend "monetary benefits" to people associated to the ruling party.
"These clinics have been opened on the properties of AAP members on high rents. They are being paid much more than the market trend," Maken alleged.
The BJP had made similar allegations soon after the launch of the ambitious primary health care project. The government had rubbished the claims.
Promising a bigger "expose" in this regard tomorrow, Maken said the Delhi government had also violated relevant Central Vigilance Commission guidelines which stipulates such properties be acquired or taken on rent only after a due tender process.
"We have found that the Mohalla Clinics that have been taken up on rent do not abide by the guidelines and rules of the Central Vigilance Commission. No advertisements or tenders were posted by AAP," he said.
