Mohammad Rahmatullah to undergo heart surgery in USA

Former India footballer Mohammad Rahmatullah has been admitted to a California hospital for an open heart surgery.

A member of the 1957 league and shield winning team of Mohammedan Sporting Club, the 75-year-old will be undergoing open heart surgery at the Stanford Hospital in North California, a Mohammaden Sporting club official said.

Rahmatullah was instrumental in winning the Agha Khan Gold Cup in 1960 in Dhaka ,the first ever win by an Indian team on foreign soil.

He also played for Dhaka Mohammedan and thereby became the first Indian in the post independence period to take the International transfer, the other being the legendary Mohammed Salim who played for Celtic.
