TRS MLC Mohammed Mehmood Ali, who served as deputy chief minister in the previous government of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Telangana, assumed charge as Home Minister Thursday.
Hailing Telangana police for their efficient functioning, he said law and order situation in the state received praise from various quarters.
Thanking Rao for giving him the responsibility of Home department, Ali said he would make his best efforts in the new role.
Ali had served as deputy chief minister and minister for revenue in the previous TRS government.
Ali was the only minister to take oath when Rao took over as the Chief Minister for a second straight term on December 13.
TRS has returned to power in the recent Assembly polls with a massive majority, winning 88 out of the total 119 seats.
