Criticising Narendra Modi's foreign visits, senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily today said the Prime Minister was not aware of the issues faced by the people back home.

"Modi is touring the world, but has failed to understand the problems of the country," Moily told reporters here.

Even after completing one year in office, none of the promises made during the election period have been fulfilled by the BJP government, he alleged.

"BJP-led NDA government's honeymoon period is over, but Narendra Modi seems to be celebrating by touring abroad," he said.

Hitting out at the BJP, he accused the NDA government of pursuing communal and divisive policies. All secular and socialist political forces in the country were rallying against Modi.

He said Congress, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, would take the lead in strengthening the fight against the "communal and divisive tendencies of the NDA government".

He claimed that the economic situation in the country had worsened due to crisis in agriculture and industrial sectors, adding there was sync between the Reserve Bank Governor and Union Finance Ministry.

Even some of the NDA partners had come out against certain policies of the government, he said.

It was not the lack of performance during the UPA-II that caused the front's defeat last year, but the allegations of corruption, Moily claimed.
