Fifteen monkeys, which barged into classrooms and scared children at the Government Elementary school, near Melur, 30 km from here, have been trapped, forest officials said today.

District Forest Ranger Kumaresan and forester Kambakudian said the monkeys snatched and threw tiffin boxes of the school children and disturbed classes.

They also threw school bags.

Following a complaint from the school Headmaster that they could not run the school due to the monkey menace, officials sought the help of professional monkey trappers who camped in the school for the past three days to trap them.
