Agri-biotechnology major Monsanto India today posted a 17.68 per cent drop in standalone net profit to Rs 40.76 crore in the third quarter of this fiscal.
The company's net profit stood at Rs 48.34 crore in the same quarter corresponding year, it said in a BSE filing.
Total income remained higher at Rs 153.6 crore in the October-December period of 2015-16, from Rs 133.8 crore in the year-ago period, Monsanto India said.

However its expenses were slightly higher at Rs 109.93 crore as against Rs 90.32 crore in the said period.
Monsanto India is a subsidiary of US-based Monsanto, engaged in selling agri-inputs. It is the only publicly listed Monsanto entity outside the US.
Shares of the company closed down at 2091.40 a piece, down by 0.30 per cent on the BSE today.
