Several parts of Chhattisgarh received some good spells of rain as the southwest monsoon has become active over the state, the weather department said on Sunday.
It predicted heavy rainfall coupled with thunderstorm at isolated places over the state in the next 24 hours while light to moderate rain at many places.
"The southwest monsoon is active over Chhattisgarh and has advanced to most parts of the state," meteorologist H P Chandra told PTI.
Monsoon, which generally arrives in the state by the first or second week of June, got delayed this year.
"Many parts of the state witnessed good spells of rainfall from Saturday evening to Sunday morning resulting in pleasant weather conditions in the state," he said.
Rains also lashed capital Raipur from 8 pm Saturday to 8 am Sunday, he said.

During this period, heavy rainfall was recorded in Mainpur (200.3 mm) and Chhura (95.3 mm) in Gariyaband district, Magarlod (120.3 mm) and Kurud (81.8 mm) in Dhamtari district, Ambikapur (86.3 mm) in Surguja district, Konta (90 mm) in Sukma district and Darbha (65.6 mm) in Bastar district, he said.
Of the five divisions in the state, several parts of Raipur, Surguja and Bastar witnessed good rainfall during this 12 hours, he said.
On Sunday, Raipur recorded maximum temperature of 29.0 degrees Celsius, Bilaspur 31.4 degrees Celsius, Ambikapur 27.0 degrees Celsius and Jagdalpur 26.9 degrees Celsius, he added.
Meanwhile, the revenue and disaster management department has set up a state-level flood control room at the government office in Gandhi Chowk here to monitor and deal with the flood-like situation, an official here said.
Anybody can inform or register complaint pertaining to flood or disaster management to the control room, he added.
