Monsoon covers parts of Punjab, Haryana; brings heavy rains

The south-west monsoon has advanced into several parts of Punjab and Haryana, bringing heavy showers in the region since yesterday.

The monsoon has advanced into several parts of Punjab and Haryana and conditions are favourable for its further advancement into remaining parts of the two states during the next two days, a MeT Department official said here today.

Heavy showers lashed many places in Haryana including Jind (100 mm), Narwana and Chhachrauli (90 mm each), Uchana (8 mm), Jagadhri, Hisar, Narnaul 70 mm each, Mahendergarh, Morni, Bilaspur 60 mm each, Narnaul 50 mm, Sirsa, Tosham, Hansi, Dabwali 40 mm each, Fatehabad, Rania, Asandh, Loharu, Bhiwani, 30 mm each, Rohtak had 20 mm, Ambala 10 mm and Panchkula was lashed by 9 mm of rains, the MeT official said.
 

In Punjab, Nabha and Muktsar were lashed by heavy rains at 60 mm each, Tarn Taran got 50 mm, Samrala 40 mm, Ludhiana, Sunam, Talwandi Sabo 30 mm each, Faridkot, Balachaur, Moga, Amritsar, Jagraon and Derabassi had 20 mm each while Nakodar, Nawanshahr, Sangrur, Patiala, Ropar, Mansa, Rajpura and Mohali got 10 mm each.

After the rains, both maximum and minimum temperatures also dropped by a few notches.
