Monsoon rains kill 29 in Pakistan

At least 29 people have been killed and many others were injured in the torrential rains that have lashed Pakistan's Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

The heavy monsoon showers that started on Friday and continued through yesterday and today have wreaked havoc and left scores of people missing.

Most of deaths were reported from Karachi, capital of Sindh, where 14 people were killed due to collapsing of houses and electrocution, an official said.

While seven more deaths were reported from Sindh, eight people were killed, five others injured and eight reported missing in Harnai district of Balochistan, an official of the National Disaster Management Authority said.
 

The rains have resulted in massive traffic jams and gridlocks in various parts of the city.

The deaths in Balochistan occured as several cars were washed away by flash floods, the official added.

The Meteorological Office has predicted more rains in the next 24 hours in different parts of Pakistan.
