With monsoon covering the entire country two days in advance, India has received four per cent more rainfall as lightning strikes killed two people in Uttar Pradesh.
While rains in several parts of the national capital kept the temperature within comfortable levels, high level of relative humidity (between 58 to 92 per cent) and water logging on roads caused difficulty to Delhiites.
Safdarjung station recorded 15 mm rainfall, considered average for Delhi, till 5.30 pm. Palam recorded 3 mm, while Lodhi Road (6.4 mm), Ayanagar (Trace) and Ridge (22.2 mm).
The flood situation in Assam remained unchanged in Lakhimpur, Golaghat, Morigaon, Barpeta, Biswanath and Jorhat districts where 1.11 lakh people are affected.
Authorities have opened 16 relief camps in Golaghat and Jorhat districts housing 2,821 people.
However, in Madhya Pradesh, where 22 people were killed in the floods, life came back to normalcy with virtually no rainfall since yesterday and markets across the state abuzz with activities and schools remaining open. A rainfall alert has been issued for Hoshangabad district.
In Maharashtra's Nashik, Army managed to rescue three persons stranded on an island in Kadva river amid heavy downpour at Kundewadi village in Niphad taluka after almost 10 hours of effort.
Nashik received heavy rainfall last week, resulting in a rise in water level in all rivers and nullahs. Kundewadi village is located on banks of river Kadva.
In Kolhapur, the Panchganga river is still flowing above the danger mark though the city did not receive rains today.
According to IMD, the country has so far received four per cent more rainfall than normal. All sub regions have been receiving good rainfall except the northeast and east region, where the deficiency has reached 23 per cent.
In Uttar Pradesh, lightning claimed two lives in Bhadohi district as light to moderate rain and thundershowers occurred at few places in the state.
In Rajasthan, heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at few places in Udaipur and isolated areas in Kota, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions. Maximum (23 cm) rainfall was recorded in Relmagra in Rajsamand district followed by Mavli town of Udaipur (17 cm) rains till morning today since yesterday.
In Haryana and Punjab, where the monsoon has largely been subdued, moderate to heavy rains lashed several parts resulting in marginal fall in day temperatures.
In Himachal Pradesh, moderate to heavy intermittent rains occurred in some parts of the state as monsoons remained normal.
Humid conditions prevailed in most parts of Bihar with light to moderate rainfall at a few places over the state.
