Monsoon revives in Rajasthan

Monsoon has revived in most parts of Rajasthan with Padampur recording maximum 13 cm of rains in the last 24 hours.

Moderate to heavy rains occurred in Northeast parts of the state covering Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer and Kota divisions.

8 mm of rains were recorded in Jaipur and surrounding sub- urban towns whereas Sriganangar gauged 14 mm of rainfall till 17:30 hrs.

Pungal Sr and Khajuwala Sr recorded 11 cm of rains till 8:30 hrs followed by Jaisalmer and Anupgarh (7 cm each).

20 other cities recorded 1 to 6 cm of rains.

"Starting from the Bay of Bengal with a depression and low pressure area, the new trough of moisture with high speed winds hit the state last weekend and caused precipitation," a state MeT official said.
 

The day and night temperatures also plummeted by one to five degree Celsius at most places in the state due to increase in moisture content in the air, he said.

Scattered rains will continue in the state in next 24 hours, a forecast said.
