Press Trust of India Puducherry
: The Puducherry government has raised the monthly assistance to patients belonging to Scheduled Castes and suffering from prolonged illness, from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

A notification of the Department of Adi Dravidar welfare said the raise would come into effect immediately.

It said the aid would for the first time be distributed to the beneficiaries through Aadhaar Payment Bridge or ECS (Electronic Credit System), an official source told PTI today.

The digital payment of assistance has thus come into force in Puducherry as per the decision of the government that all financial payments should be through electronic mode only, the sources said.

The beneficiaries should produce a certificate from Medical Officers on progress of their health condition.
